Dorothy Doring is a Minnesota-based vocalist with a unique musical style, a charismatic stage presence and a voice that exudes passion and experience.

"Southern Exposure" recorded in New Orleans, is dedicated to the city of

New Orleans, its history, its music and its people.

Doring's CD release "Southern Exposure" on Quarter Note Records was recorded in New Orleans pre-Katrina with producer/pianist David Torkanowsky and a crew of world-renowned Crescent City musicians.

Dorothy began working on the CD project in 2004, spending her summers and vacation time as a "visiting resident" of the French Quarter, surrounded by the inspiring sounds and flavors of her second musical home.

"Southern Exposure" is a collection infused with the tasteful care of exquisite musicianship and the nuance and depth of a singer long-immersed in the art of the jazz standard.

Doring is known to Twin Cities jazz fans through her appearances at leading clubs like the Dakota and premier events like the Twin Cities Summer Jazz Festival. Her self-produced debut release "About Time" was nominated in 2002 for a Minnesota Music Academy Award for "Jazz Recording of the Year."

Dorothy Doring has a versatile musical background with experience in everything from folk to pop, country to rock, from R&B to latin, to blues and jazz. Dorothy grew up always knowing her destiny singing on stage at age 4, was on local radio at age 9, started voice training at age 12, sang in hometown rock 'n roll band at age 13, sang for various community events, majored in vocal music, toured Europe with college choir, went professional full-time in clubs six nights a week.

Doring has a Bachelor of Science in Vocal Music and a Masters of Arts in Education keeping a balance between live vocal jazz performance and vocal music education for the Saint Paul Public Schools.

Dorothy is an active member of  "Jazz Vocalists of Minnesota" , "The Minnesota Society of Cabaret Singers" and "Alpha Delta Kappa".

Named "Professional of the Year Representing   Entertainment" for the

                         2007-2008 edition of Cambridge Who's Who.

2006 contest winner of the all-star MENC National Anthem Project

Representing state of Louisiana. Performed for Flag Day in Washington D.C.

Completed "Cabaret Conference" class of 2007 at Yale University, an intensive

workshop for singers with concentration on the art of performance technique.
