David Torkanowsky / Keyboards, Producer.
David Torkanowsky has produced a number of recordings for artists like Dianne Reeves (Blue Note Records), Steve Masakowski (Blue Note Records), and the Neville Brothers.
David was raised in the fertile cauldron
of New Orleans, mentored by his father who was conductor for the New Orleans Symphony Orchestra and under the tutlage of jazz greats such as Albert "Papa" French,
Erroll Garner, Ellis Marsalis, Professor Longhair and Dr. John.
David was hired as musical director for the Al Hirt Big
Band and spent years as pianist/arranger
for Dianne Reeves, Boney James and Boz Scaggs.
He is a
founding member of the revered Astral Project and has worked regularly with
numerous headliners such as Kirk Whalum, Eddie Harris, Nat Adderly, Larry Coryell,
Bobby McFerrin, Maria Muldaur, Kermit Ruffins, Terrance Blanchard and Maurice Brown.
Neal Caine / Bass .
Neal Caine is a current member of Harry Connick,
Jr.'s Big Band, and his impressive list of credits on bass includes
time in the Diana Krall Trio and the Elvin Jones Jazz Machine.
Edward Livingston / Bass .
Bass player Edwin Livingston has played with everyone
from Los Hombres Calientes to the Wichita Symphony Orchestra. He
has also graced the silver screen, portraying Ray Charles' bassist
with the octet and the big band in the hit movie, "Ray."
Derek Douget / Tenor Saxophone.
New Orleans saxophonist and composer Derek
Douget's highly touted 2002 CD, Perpetual
Motion, finds him in
the company of Ellis Marsalis, Jason Marsalis, Roland Guerin, and
Nicholas Payton. Douget's highly demanding schdule includes two weekly
gigs at the legendary Snug Harbor, one with young trumpet sensation
Maurice Brown and one with Ellis Marsalis.
Tim Green / Tenor Saxophone.
Tim Green has performed and recorded with
an impressive list of musicians, including Peter Gabriel, Bruce
Hornsby, Phish, the Radiators, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, and many
others. Tim is a several-time choice as "Saxophone Player
of the Year" by Offbeat Magazine.
Steve Masakowski / Guitar .
A native of New Orleans, guitarast Steve Masakowski
has played with most of the city's great musicians including Alvin "Red" Tyler,
Ellis Marsalis, Earl Turbington and James Black. He has released
numerous CDs, including two on the Blue Note Records label, and
has been an active member of the group Astral Project.
Troy Davis / Drums .
Troy Davis spent 2 1/2 years as Betty Carter's
drummer, recording and touring the world. Troy has recorded and
performed with a number of jazz luminaries including Terence Blanchard
and Roy Hargrove, Monty Alexander, Toots Thielemans, Wynton Marsalis,
Pharoah Sanders, and Paquito D'Rivera.
Simon Lott / Drums.
Simon Lott's projects range from drum-and-bass
beats to pocket funk grooves to swingin' cocktail jazz. The young
drummer has performed with a number of heavyweights including Alvin
Batiste Sonny Fortune, George Porter, Jr., and Willie Tee.
Michael Skinkus / Percussion.
With credits including percussion work on Dr. John's
2001 release Creole Moon, Micheal Skinkus is in great demand in the
New Orleans music scene.
